If the shipyard has existed for 26 years, it was taken over in January 1998 by José Vélazquez. Based in Hourtin, Yachting Médoc has had a branch in Le Verdon-sur-Mer since its inception. Formerly at Port Bloc, this branch naturally moved to Port Médoc at the time of its creation. When José Vélazquez arrived, the company then had four people, including three mechanics and one accounting secretary. Having been involved in the nautical sector for over 10 years (he worked for Sports Services in the sale of watersports equipment and Célébrity boats), José sensed all the potential in this company. He therefore developed the commercial branch of the shipyard, which had previously been little exploited, and very quickly saw his efforts rewarded. Shortly after his arrival, Yachting Médoc’s results began to climb. José wisely kept the foundations of the company and especially the brands it previously worked with, such as Yamaha. Then came Rio, for more than 10 years, followed by Capelli, and today he closely collaborates with his neighbor, the shipyard B2 Marine. Furthermore, Yachting Médoc is also a dealer for the brands Guy Marine, Parker, and Satellite trailers, a catalog that allows it to meet most sailors’ demands. At the same time, the dealership has greatly developed the winter storage part, since with 15,000 m² of land, it offers a privileged location, 500 meters from Lake Hourtin and its port with 500 berths. The same advantage applies to the Port Médoc branch on the Gironde estuary, which also offers a marina solution and the possibility for sailors to quickly reach Royan and its lively atmosphere or to head out to the Atlantic Ocean. Moreover, other renowned navigation basins such as Lacanau or the Arcachon basin are not far away, confirming Yachting Médoc’s strategic position. To develop its clientele, José and his team do not hesitate to go the extra mile by being present at numerous boat shows such as Arcachon in April, Le Verdon S/ Mer in June, La Rochelle in September, and Paris in December. A remarkable dynamism means that in 2013, the company now has 11 people, including four mechanics, one laminator, one assembler, one warehouse manager, one salesperson, one accounting secretary, and its manager José. Yachting Médoc has complete equipment, starting with its workshop truck that covers the entire department, knowing that while its mechanics are approved by Yamaha and Mercury, they are also capable of working on all types of engines. A recognized professionalism that helps to retain an ever-growing clientele, who also appreciate the family atmosphere of the company and its durability, as José has surrounded himself with his wife, his brother, and his son to keep the flame burning for a long time. An enthusiasm that the whole team will be happy to share with you at the next Arcachon Nautical Show, from April 3 to 6, 2015. A great opportunity to discover the B2 Marine, Parker, Yamaha, GuyMarine, or Satellite ranges.
